Design Liquified...

An aesthetic conversation between designer and end user.
I'm continually interested in mass customization and how a designer can leave a significant portion of the design in the hands of the end user.  This senior year exercise was a physical embodiment of my curiosity for how a designer might allow the user to establish their own aesthetic while setting some constraints to make sure that the end result would still be something to be proud of.
Imagine a lamp with a shape that could adjust dynamically to the mood you were trying create, in addition to having a changeable color and brightness.
Or, what if each portion was in constant cycling motion, and you would naturally watch and learn when it looked resolved and when it was creating visual tension.
When implemented with manual controls like the air pumps pictured below, it even allows visitors to leave their mark on the aesthetics of a space, whether in a home, hotel room or lounge.
